An evening of fundraising and passionate speeches takes place at Salters' Hall

In September 2011 create food and party design and Salters' Hall played host to a high profile charity dinner in aid of the Combined Services Disabled Ski Team (CSDST).

The CSDST is open to any serving member of the Armed Forces with a permanent disability. The disability may have been sustained through action on operations, illness or accident. CSDST aims to improve the individual skill of every athlete who joins the team through high quality coaching. This process encourages and promotes the raw talent of novice athletes, as well as providing high level performance coaching up to International level. The charity's aim is to feed athletes into the British Disabled Ski Team (BDST) at the appropriate moment; with the ultimate goal of participation in Paralympic events.

130 guests enjoyed a Champagne reception to the sounds of a military band dressed in formal regalia.

A sumptuous and seasonal three-course dinner handpicked from Create's brand new Autumn and Winter menus was served to all. During dinner there were a series of emotive speeches given by members of the team regaling tales of bravado and achievement against the odds. Also in attendance was Ski Sunday presenter and former five times British Olympic skier Graham Bell who gave a rousing speech.

Dinner was followed by a charity auction which saw guests bidding for some fantastic prizes including jewellery from Tiffany's, assorted gifts from Barbour and Champagne from Fortnum and Mason.

The charity raised £40,000, above and beyond their expectations, thanks to the generosity of the guests in attendance. Selex Galileo - the event organisers - said "I personally would like to say a special thank you for your support and the waiting staff were exceptional on the night."
